I LANDED THE JOB!

After months of searching for the perfect position in Charlotte, it finally found me.  I will be moving from Orlando, FL to Charlotte, NC on 10/1 and 10/2.  The job and working environment seem perfect for me – a large improvement over where I am today.  And of course, the money is phenomenal.  Thanks to everyone for the advice and support they have given; it’s been an amazing run at PHC/CuraScript/Express Scripts.  I had a great team working for me in Byfield, and I still think about the old days and the old crew quite often.

There are some great benefits to moving to Charlotte – namely leaving Floriduh behind – and though most are personal, some are professional.  Since moving to Orlando, my musical activity has been minimal, and my singing and playing skills have atrophied; in Charlotte I will be able to see shows every week or so, and maintain inspiration.  Hopefully I will be able to play out after I get my songs back into shape, and maybe eventually get a few songs taking off locally – perhaps completing a demo CD or two from the material I have accumulated.

Of course I get to leave the lack of culture that is Orlando – booming stereos, muffler-less 1991 Honda Accords, Check Cashing, Amscots, fast food, chain restaurants, Hooters, horrible drivers, toll roads, highway stoplights, sirens blaring, and incessant, deadly humidity.

I also am very excited to work for a new company – a smaller, more personal enterprise than my current Fortune-132 employment.  It will give me a change to shine all over again in a new environment, instead of being just a face within hundreds.  Also, there is some potential for growth, and for even designing and changing the ways the IT support structure works – instead of just getting it handed down from people you’ll never meet, in a corporate HQ you’ve never visited.  That doesn’t appeal to me as the place I want to spend my life working.

I feel incredibly lucky in everything that I have done these past four years – from starting out in Byfield, to the hard work and promotions, and finally supervisory position and the team I had under me.  Then being flown down to Lake Mary and around the country – teaching an application and providing user support.  Then there was my crazy move to Orlando, the condo I blindly picked and bought that has worked out wonderfully…the girl I met here and the great year and a half we’ve had so far.  Along the way my debts have disappeared, my stocks and retirement have soared, and my personal life has become enriched and fruitful.  I truly feel that I am blessed, despite not believing in that type of stuff; maybe Karma has been looking out for me.  Whatever it is, I will try to continue to be the best, nicest guy that I can, and hopefully use my skills, money and future to make this world a better place.
