So I have a long and nasty history with Jehovahs Witnesses. Back in Mass, I was an offender of sorts - because a JW daughter was in love with me, and I was showing her how much of a silly cult it was, and how much fun normal, happy life is. I even offered to join the group, to stay together with her - but it turned out the indoctrination/brainwash level was prohibitive. I played songs in my band with a clear anti-religious tone, and when I went out to college I got involved in Free Thought organizations, and even helped a few kids from mormon/JW families get out from that faith and find out who they were. So, not a good working relationship.

Down here in the south, NC now, JWs prey on minorities exclusively. Actually, thats pretty true nation-wide (white people are just too normal/happy/spiritually ambivalent to buy-in to 144,000 folks go to heaven). When I was on my Jehovah's Witness Truth Mission in my early 20's, I found publications from almost a century from the group. It looked like they started including dark-skinned people in their pamphlets in the late 70's, when their ranks thinned after the world didn't end on their 12th prediction. Gotta keep the numbers up, after all.

So every few months, because the house is listed in my girlfriend's name, they come to the door - usually two women in fancy dresses, sometimes late teens, sometimes 30's-50's. They always look confused when I answer the door, and ask (in broken English) for someone that speaks Spanish. The 7 times or so, I've just been polite (because my girlfriend is around, and being a semi-almost-Catholic, she forces me to be tolerant).

They came by again today. Girlfriend is not here, so I'm thinking I'll take it as far as it goes - maybe I can tell them to never come here again, or explain that I am an ex-JW in spirit. They asked for 'The Spanish family'. I said there is none - just me. They ask if anyone here speaks spanish. "Si, entiendo bueno," I answer. They laugh, and look at each other. Then they say thanks and walk away.

They won't even ENGAGE me because I'm not spanish. These people are conditioned to go for certain marks. In their training, they are taught to not tangle with a few folks - specifically, Born-Again Christians, who usually have a better grasp on Bible meanings that JWs do. JWs can usually out-bible the average Christian, because they read it and go to study group 3x a week or more.

Spanish folks are usually raised Christian/Catholic, so they have an innate weakness, and if they're in a bad emotional state, or desperate, these people want to walk in and rope them into wasting the rest of their life by avoiding non-JWs and psychologically beating the **** out of their kids for the rest of their lives.

It makes me sad. Mainly for the kids of the parents that might get roped in - but more so for the effort these people expend. They could be with their families. Or by the pool. Working out, improving themselves, reading a good book. Instead they are walking door to door in fancy dresses at 10am on a Saturday to try to find Spanish families with chinks in their psychological armor, to serve a small publishing company in Brooklyn run by rich white pricks.
